On a daily basis parents make decisions about discipline that shape their child's character, values and future.  In reviewing how we discipline, it may be effective to write down what methods you have used.  For the time being, set that list aside and read other methods that others have been sucessful with, understand the reasoning and how it made a difference in the ultimate results acheived with the behavior of the child.  Review your list, ask yourself how your methods have worked or not worked. 

Our job as a parent is an ever learning position.  Choosing to learn new skills, methods, employ tools that have been sucessful can provide the working structure so desired in your home.  By changing our own methods of discipline, we can create a relationship with our child(ren) that provides the child resources to learn from their mistakes.  The Total Transformation provides great "Tools For Change".  Parents can make a difference in their child's life.  The earlier you start, the better your results.  This is not to say that teens and young adults will not benefit from your decision to change your method of how you respond to them.  They too will benefit in how you revise your methods.  Teens and young adults are responsible for their behavior and consequences too.  Learning to manage our response to them will provide them an opportunity to improve their character and values.
